ROMANIA AND INDIA: A NEW CHAPTER IN ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY – STRATEGIC STATEMENTS AT THE INRO BUSINESS SUMMIT 2025

Posted on By Oliver

Romania is steadily affirming its role as an active economic player in Asia, with India emerging as one of the most promising channels for bilateral development. The INRO Business Summit 2025 was designed not as a showcase event, but as a real platform for connecting the business environments of both countries—focused on execution and long-term relationships.

Organized by the Union of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce Romania–India (UBCCR), the summit brought together government officials, diplomats, corporate leaders, and entrepreneurs from key sectors including FMCG, agribusiness, pet food, food processing, tourism, and logistics.

Applied economic diplomacy: Romania comes with a clear offer

Senna Latif, Ambassador of Romania to India, opened the event with a firm message: Romania is no longer just participating — it’s building:

“Romania has a lot to offer and is ready to create real partnerships. This is not just about products or numbers, it’s about trust, courage, and vision. We are already seeing the first connections turning into collaborations.”

She praised the strong involvement of the private sector and UBCCR’s impeccable organization, reaffirming that the Romanian Embassy in India will continue to support every concrete effort for Romanian economic expansion.

Shiva Munjal, President of the Union of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce Romania–India, positioned the summit as the beginning of an ambitious new phase in Romania’s strategic repositioning on the Asian market:

“Romania is finding its economic voice within one of the world’s most important business ecosystems. This summit is just the beginning. New destinations, new horizons, and new standards are ahead.”

She expressed her gratitude to her team and Romanian partners for making such a high-impact event possible.

Alin Marius Albu, Vice President of the Union of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce Romania–India, delivered a direct message: the organization he represents is not symbolic — it’s a results-driven economic engine:

“The discussions we’ve had over these two days must become contracts. Our goal is to build a sustainable economic flow between Romania and India, grounded in bilateral investment and industrial cooperation.”

Costin Mandrea, CEO of Coca-Cola India, emphasized the importance of Romania’s presence in India at a time when the local market is gaining unprecedented global relevance:

“Romania has know-how, strong products, and vision. Now is the time to act and claim its role in the emerging markets. And India is clearly one of the most promising directions.”

Mahesh Kumar Putta, Member of Parliament in the Government of India, confirmed the Indian authorities’ openness toward stronger commercial ties with Romania:

“Romania is a long-standing partner, but the full potential of our collaboration is only now beginning to be realized. From IT and AI to wine, dairy, and construction materials — Romania is present and relevant.”

A summit focused on execution, not ceremony

The INRO Business Summit featured:

  • B2B sessions with investment-ready businesses
  • Roundtables on innovation, sustainability, and market access
  • Strategic dialogues between policy-makers and the private sector

The participating companies reflected the scale and diversity of this emerging Romania–India economic corridor, bringing together brands such as Casa Timiș, Coca-Cola, Sergiana – Poiana Mărului, Cotnari, Agora Petfood, Ecoferm, Cotnari, Paviresin, Mirdatod, SLMG Beverages, Cris-Tim, Boromir, VMDW, Speed Overseas Manpower Pvt. Ltd., Neophron International SRL,.

UBCCR confirmed its intention to organize a future edition of the summit in Bucharest. More importantly, the expectation is clear: initial commercial projects should begin without delay. The joint message was simple and unanimous: Romania is ready. India is open. Now is the time for execution.
